Description: Early 19th century drop dial wall clock by Samuel Allport from Birmingham.
Mahogany 2 piece case, bezel secured to back box with 4 pegs. Fine quality mahogany veneered back box with brass inlay, and locking bottom door which is radiused to the wall. There are 2 pendulum side access doors.
14" convex wood dial with original paintwork, fine blued steel hands protected by a convex glazed locking cast brass bezel.
Line fusee anchor escapement movement separated by chamfered shouldered plates which is secured to the back of the dial by a falseplate which is signed Owen Birmingham, (Edward Owen c1795-1821). See Ronald Rose English dial clocks for a similar clock.
